Christmas Vacation

/

Vacation - “a period spent away from home or business in travel or recreation.”
-      Merriam Webster’s Dictionary

I’m going to Disney World for Christmas!  You have no idea how excited I am to be typing those words.  I have wanted to experience Christmastime at Disney World for years but had never been able to convince my dad to go.  But finally, because of my internship schedule this summer, we didn’t go on a family vacation after last year ended or this semester started so we decided to go at Christmastime.  And I cannot wait until we’re there!

November Obsessions

/

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

November was a crazy busy month with the end of the semester and trying to finish outlines and prep for the onslaught of finals so that’s why I haven’t been as great with uploading in the past month.  But I’ve tried some great finds this month and I can’t wait to share them with you!

October Obsessions

/

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

This semester is going by so quickly, I can’t believe it.  I can’t believe next week is my last full week of classes for the semester and that finals start in a little less than a month.  Read on to see what I really enjoyed during the month of October.

FabFitFun Fall 2018 Box

/

Fall — The season between summer and winter comprising in the northern hemisphere usually the months of September, October, and November or as reckoned astronomically extending from the September equinox to the December solstice.
-Merriam Webster’s Dictionary

I know the fall season is well in full swing, and actually for FabFitFun, it’s ending this week!  I’ve also had a chance to really utilize and think about what I got in this season’s box.  In case you don’t know anything about FabFitFun, it’s a quarterly subscription box that has about 8-10 full size products in each box for only $49.99 a quarter.  And even better, if you read until the end, I have a code for you to use to get $10 off a box!  Okay, so enough of the intro stuff, keep reading for my review of the items in the Fall box.

How 3L Year Differs from 1L and 2L

/

SenioritisA supposed affliction of students in their final year of school, characterized by a decline in motivation.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

And just like that, I’m over halfway done with my second to last semester of law school.  I honestly can’t believe that I’m almost done with law school, it feels like just yesterday I was a baby 1L trying to get used to the changes from college to law school.  Not only are there changes adjusting to law school, but each year of law school seems to be slightly different than the one before.  I thought I would share what I found to be the biggest changes from 1L and even 2L years to 3L year.

September Obsessions

/

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

Now that it’s officially the month of pumpkins, candy corn, and all things fall, I thought I would share my favorite things from September.  If fall break is in your future, definitely read through my old obsessions posts and check out some of the books if you want to get some “fun” reading in to take a break from law school reading.

Television — Programs that are broadcast by television.
-Black’s Law Dictionary

Since this week is officially the fall tv premiere week, I thought I’d write a post about what shows I’m going to be watching this fall.  I always think a lot of shows are going to be my new favorite show and then end up never watching it, except for my favorite and go-to shows.  So no, I likely won’t be stuck in front of the tv watching all of these, but these are the shows that are standing out to me now.

3L Fall Classes

/

Overview — A general review or summary of a subject.”
-Oxford English Dictionary

Every time a new semester starts, I feel like it’s so hard for me to wrap my head around how much time I have left in law school.  But this semester, it seems even harder because this time I only have less than a year left of school.  I like my course schedule this semester because two of my classes are taught by adjuncts who practice in the field and another is more of a practical learning type class instead of just lecture.  So without further ado, here’s the courses I am taking this semester.

August Obsessions

/

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

August:  the end of summer, the beginning of back to school, and a good month for new obsessions.  Starting school may mean my obsessions may not be as wonderful for the next few months as my only obsession will be doing school work.

Reflecting on 2L Summer Internship

/

Reflection — Consideration of some subject matter, idea, or purpose.”
-Merriam Webster’s Dictionary

Oh, what can I say about my summer internship other than it was amazing!  From the time I was 10, I’ve wanted to work for a big corporation as some sort of executive.  Obviously, you don’t go straight into becoming an executive so I have to start somewhere small, and I think a legal intern fits that bill.  I really enjoyed the work I did this summer and I have the opportunity to continue working at the company for this school year.  I also had to meet with my advisor today to discuss my internship so this post is super timely.

Law School Prep Books Update

/

Fact-finding--"The process of taking evidence to determine the truth about a disputed point.”
-Black's Law Dictionary

I’ve been planning this update about these books for a while, and ironically, my law school assigned readings from these books for the 1Ls.  If you’ve been with my blog since the beginning or have read all of my posts, you’ve probably read my post on What I’m Reading to Prep for Law School.  Now that I’m going into my 3L year, I felt that it was a good time to look back on these “law school prep books” and see if they were worth buying and reading.  So, if you are starting law school soon (maybe in the next few weeks!) and just want to feel a little more comfortable with the journey, check out one of these books to see what they have to say about law school!

July Obsessions

/

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

Wow, this month flew by!  Maybe because I took off three days for the Fourth and then it was time to wrap up my internship.  I didn’t have much time to test out new products and shows, but the ones I did were all great!

-Merriam Webster’s Dictionary

If it wasn’t for the heat during the summer, I’d definitely pick it as one of my favorite seasons.  I love how it’s sunny until 9 pm, being able to wear shorts and a t-shirt, and so much more.  I have high hopes for summer boxes and I have to say that this box lived up to my expectations.  So read along to hear my thoughts on the products in this season’s FabFitFun box (and check out the end for a coupon code)!

June Obsessions

/

June is definitely my favorite month out of the year, specifically because it’s my birthday month!  And I found some great gems this past month that made it even better!

How to Spend Your Summer Break

/

Break — “A respite from work, school, or duty.

-Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary

I know what you’re thinking, isn’t the summer already halfway over?  Yes, yes it is, but there’s still a huge part of the summer left so if you need any ideas about what to do in your time off from law school, keep reading!

2L Summer Internship

/

Intern — “An advanced student or recent graduate who is apprenticing to gain practical experience before entering a specific profession.
-Black’s Law Dictionary

Summer is flying by and so is my summer internship!  I honestly cannot believe that tomorrow marks the end of my fifth week of my summer internship.  I’m really enjoying what I’ve been doing for the past few weeks.  If you’re interested in reading my posts on how I picked my internship last summer and a reflection on my experience, click here and here!

May Obsessions

Summer vacay is finally here!  May feels like it went by super quick between finishing up finals, working a few shifts at Banana, and the starting my summer internship.  But I’ve discovered some great things this month!

Summer television seasons are upon us, which means shorter seasons but some of the shows are as good as the fall shows.  I find them to be a bit more soapy, but my guilty pleasures are definitely soapy shows.  Check out my picks for summer shows to watch, and a few to binge from the spring season.

Tackling Finals

/

Tackle — To set about dealing with.”
-Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary

I’m knee deep into finals (three down, two to go) so I thought I’d give you an overview of how I approach taking exams.  I have a typical way of approaching my exams, but as with any of my posts, find what works for you and stick with it.  This is a similar way that I approached taking exams in college as well.

April Obsessions

/

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

I’m two finals deep into finals week with three more finals before I’m finished with my 2L year (which I honestly cannot believe!).  This month was a little crazy, but I decided to take a break from studying to tell you what I loved during this month!

FabFitFun Spring 2018 Box

/

Spring — “The season between winter and summer comprising in the northern hemisphere usually the months of March, April, and May or as reckoned astronomically extending from the March equinox to the June solstice.
-Merriam Webster’s Dictionary

As it now finally feels like spring where I live, I thought I’d give you my thoughts on the Spring 2018 FabFitFun box.  Right now, this box is currently sold out, but the Post-Spring Editor’s Box is available, which has a lot of amazing goodies in it!  If you haven’t heard about FabFitFun before, it’s a quarterly subscription box that comes with about 7-10 full size items, all for $49.99 a quarter, but if you click this link, you’ll get $10 off your first box!  And trust me, it’s a great deal.  To see the types of items you can get in the box, check out my prior unboxings.  So, without further ado, here’s my review of the Spring 2018 FabFitFun box!

Scheduling in Law School

/

Register — To enroll formally as a student.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

I am the type of person who plans everything out far ahead of time.  Like make a plan of your entire law school courseload before you even start law school.  Yes, I actually am that organized.  But I recently just registered for my last year of law school (seriously, how is that already around the corner??).  But, I thought I would share what classes I think are a good idea to take in your three years, and my opinions on the classes.

March Obsessions

/

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

March was a whirlwind of a month between spring break, snow days, and Easter break.  I spent a lot of time watching Netflix and movies, if you can’t tell by the scope of my obsessions.

February Obsessions

/

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

I totally meant to get this post up last week, but spring break starting meant midterms and packing so my blog post got pushed to the side.  However, I have some good obsessions from the month of February so check them out!

My Apartment Essentials

Essential — A thing that is absolutely necessary.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

To wrap up my mini-series of February, I thought I would share what I consider to be my apartment essentials.  These items are the ones that I utilize every day, and some are actually things that I just got for my apartment but don’t know what I did without them.

Favorite Bloggers and YouTubers

/

Entertainment — The action of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

Over the past year and a half, I have really become immersed in the social media content world, a.k.a. instead of watching tv shows, I watch the latest videos from my favorite YouTubers or read the latest posts from my favorite bloggers.  So if you’re looking for some entertainment, check out my favorites below!

Working Out in Law School

/

Fitness — The condition of being physically fit and healthy.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

For February, I thought I’d focus my posts this month on some of my favorite things in a variety of areas.  For the first post, I decided to talk about my favorite ways to work out and maintain a fitness routine.  Yesterday was the first day of Lent, and every year, I personally enjoy taking on something during Lent instead of giving something up.  This year, I decided to work out regularly and start being a little healthier with my lifestyle.

January Obsessions

/

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

Contrary to the popular meme going around that January has felt like it has more than 70 days in it, I feel like it was New Year’s Day like last week. But now that the month is over, here's a recap of my favorite things!

Organize Your Life

Organize — To form into a coherent unity or functioning whole.
-Merriam Webster’s Dictionary

For my second installment in my New Year’s Resolution series, I thought I’d talk about how I stay organized in law school and in life.  Having everything in my life be organized helps me to stay focused on my school work and makes me feel at peace (but seriously being disorganized stresses me out).  I need everything to be in its place and out of the way for me to feel like I have my life together.  So without further ado, here are some ways I keep things organized and in its place.

2L Spring Overview

/

Overview — A general review or summary of a subject.”
-Oxford English Dictionary

I cannot believe that I am officially halfway done with law school and that I’m closer to graduation than to when I started law school.  But that being said, I thought I’d give you some insight into the classes I’m taking this semester.  My schedule this semester is way different than any schedule I’ve ever had before.  Two of my classes only meet once a week for two hours, which means I only have one class for two hours on Monday and Wednesday, and my classes on Tuesday start at 8:30 am and end at 5:00 pm.  Hopefully I can handle a schedule like this because last semester all of my classes ended at 2:30 so fingers crossed.

Saving Money in Law School

/

Saving — The act or an instance of economizing.”
-Oxford English Dictionary

So for the month of January, I picked the most appropriate theme for this month, New Year’s Resolutions.  I’m not really big into setting New Year’s resolutions because I always feel like I fail within the first few weeks of the year.  However, I do try to start good habits even if I start when it’s not truly the beginning of the year.  My first installment in this series is about saving money in law school, which is a little bit of an oxymoron since law school itself is a lot of money.  However, there are some ways to save money on other necessities and even on your textbooks!

FabFitFun Winter 2017

/

Winter — “The season between autumn and spring comprising in the northern hemisphere usually the months of December, January, and February or as reckoned astronomically extending from the December solstice to the March equinox.
-Merriam Webster’s Dictionary

I had a superb plan to post this on the first day of winter back in December, but being on break really got the best of me.  However, I’m here today with my review of the Winter FabFitFun box! So, without further ado, here’s my review of the Winter 2017 FabFitFun box!
