Summer Obsessions

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”

-Oxford’s English Dictionary

Holy moly, it’s October?! Craziness.  I’m a little behind on my obsessions posts but this summer provided me some really great products that I love so much.  A lot of these products are things I use every day or almost every day since I purchased them.  If you decide to try out any of the products in this post, I hope you enjoy them and please share if you do!

Bar Prep Practice Exams

/

Practice — To perform or work at repeatedly so as to become proficient; to train by repeated exercises.”

-Merriam-Webster Dictionary

I’m back again with another post on bar prep!  Today, my post is on simulated exams for the bar and how to get the most out of those exams.  This is coming pretty late in the bar prep process, but I think a lot of this information is great to apply in the last few weeks of bar prep.  I know that this year’s exam is a little different (okay, a lot different) than normal bar exams, but a lot of what I found to be helpful could still be helpful to you and for future years of exams.

In the bar prep process, there are two official simulated exams through Barbri (one for the MBE and one for the essays).  However, I used a lot of my time in the last two weeks working through my own “simulated exams;” like extra 100 question practice MBE exams and the full essay exams not assigned during the course.  I found the simulated exams to be a great way to work on my timing for the exams in addition to making sure I know the law in a time crunch.  Honestly, there’s no one perfect way to utilize the simulated exams but this is the way I found them to be helpful during my bar prep so I thought I’d share!

Four Years of blondegalese!

Birthday--"A day of origin.”

-Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary

HAPPY FOURTH BIRTHDAY TO MY BLOG!!

Holy crap, I cannot believe it’s been four years (and two days) since I was getting ready to start law school and started this blog.  Obviously, a lot has changed in those four years.  I’ve now finished law school with my Juris Doctor degree, am a licensed attorney in the state of Pennsylvania, and have a full time job as a judicial law clerk (post on that coming soon!).  It’s been a wild ride the past four years and honestly, I couldn’t have predicted where I’d be this year but really who did?!

Spring Obsessions

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”

-Oxford’s English Dictionary

Honestly, I can’t believe it’s July and time to review my spring obsessions.  It really feels like spring just started and not that it ended around a week ago.  Anyone else feel like it should be April instead of July??  During quarantine, I really embraced the comfy life as I settled in to working from home and got to enjoy some more down time as the courthouse where I work was only really processing emergency cases for much of April and May.  So here’s what items I loved during the past few months and maybe they’ll inspire you to try them out as well!

Barbri Bar Prep Review

/

Review — Renewed study of material previously studied.”

-Merriam-Webster Dictionary

This is a crazy time to be taking the bar exam, and I’m wishing everyone who has to prepare/sit for the bar in 2020 the best as they tackle this last hurdle on the journey to become a lawyer.  I honestly can’t believe it’s been one year since I was studying for the bar exam, but I wanted to share some of my thoughts on the Barbri prep class and some tips I found helpful in learning material and prepping for the bar.  A lot of my tips don’t just apply to Barbri either!  Disclaimer:  I’m not getting paid for writing this review, but I did receive a free Barbri course in exchange for being a rep all three years of law school.  That being said, this review includes my unbiased opinions on the course and no one told me what to write in this review.

Movies to Watch During Quarantine

/

Movie — A recording of moving images that tells a story and that people watch on a screen or television.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

It seems like it’s been years since quarantine started and I’m honestly losing brain cells because I haven’t been a real person in so long.  The one thing that I’ve been enjoying during quarantine is my parents’ and my Movie of the Night selections.  So every couple days, either my dad, my mom, or I pick a movie to watch that night.  Some are movies that I’ve seen plenty of times and others were first timers for us.  We’ve watched so many different movies and some have not been so great.  But there have been some that we all have enjoyed and I’ve complied the list here!  If you’re  running out of ideas of what movies to watch during quarantine or want something fun to break up your bar exam studying, check out my list below!

FabFitFun Fall & Winter 2019 Box

/

Fall — The season between spring and autumn comprising in the northern hemisphere usually the months of September, October, and November or as reckoned astronomically extending from the September solstice to the December equinox.

Winter — “The season between autumn and spring comprising in the northern hemisphere usually the months of December, January, and February or as reckoned astronomically extending from the December solstice to the March equinox.
-Merriam Webster’s Dictionary

If you’ve been wondering where my review for the Fall and Winter FabFitFun boxes were, here they are!  I’ve been super terrible about keeping thetm up over the past few months and I think that’s the result of my boredom with being a FabFitFun subscriber.  So after three years of receiving boxes, I’ve officially cancelled my subscription.  It’s mainly because I’ve received so many products from the thirteen boxes I’ve gotten as a subscriber.  But that doesn’t mean it may not be the box for you to try out!  If you haven’t heard anything about FabFitFun, it’s a quarterly subscription box that has between 8-10 full size products in each box for only $49.99 a quarter.  Annual subscribers can start to customize their Summer 2020 box starting today, and FFF has released spoilers for all of the box customizations on their Instagram (hint hint: one is something from Reese Witherspoon’s brand).

This year definitely did not start the way anyone anticipated, and I hope you and your family are all doing well and social distancing.  In case you’re going a little stir crazy while social distancing, I’ve complied my favorites from the past few months and I hope you can enjoy some of them in the near future.

A Week in My Style 02.03.20

/

Style — The state of being popular; fashionable elegance.”
-Merriam Webster’s Dictionary

I had so much fun making this post last week that I thought I would do it again for what I wore to work this past week.  As I mentioned before, a lot of the pieces that I have are older so the stores I bought them from don’t sell them anymore.  Hopefully, these pictures will be inspiring for you when you are putting together outfits.

I promise I will soon have a post related to how I got my job and what I’m doing in my job, but to hold you over, I thought I would show you what I’ve been wearing to my job every day.  My position as a judicial law clerk means that I can wear business casual and get away with it so I don’t wear a lot of blazers.  I also wear my hair up a lot for work because I don't like it getting in my face while I'm trying to get things done.  I know I have so much trouble picking out what to wear every morning so hopefully this post will give you some inspiration for your work wardrobe.  My only caveat is so many of these pieces are older so I can’t link you to the exact clothing pieces (peep my boots on Friday, I bought them in 2011!).  I will let you know where I got them from under each picture so you can see if they have something similar!
