September Obsessions

/

Obsession — An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.”
-Oxford’s English Dictionary

Now that it’s officially the month of pumpkins, candy corn, and all things fall, I thought I would share my favorite things from September.  If fall break is in your future, definitely read through my old obsessions posts and check out some of the books if you want to get some “fun” reading in to take a break from law school reading.

1.  A Simple Favor by Darcey Bell.  I’m big into thriller novels, like Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, so when I heard about this new book for the new movie I had to read it.  I liked the multi-character narrators and thought the storyline was unique.  However, I did think the twist was a bit obvious based on some of the details the author included, but overall it was a good thriller that wasn’t too dark or depressing

2.  Sperry Lounge Around Sneakers.  My mom actually got these shoes first, and when I wore them, I decided I had to get myself a pair.  I love the Taupe color, it’s a great basic that goes with pretty much anything.  These shoes look good with jeans and a nicer top and even with athleisure wear.  There’s memory foam in the soles, which make these shoes the most comfortable shoes ever.  If I could wear them to work, I definitely would.

3.  Sonia Kashuk Quick Dry Makeup Brush Wipes.  I’m probably the worst person when it comes to cleaning my brushes, a.k.a. I only clean them once every few months (gross, I know).  But I received these wipes in a Target Beauty Box a few months ago (and just used them) and now my brush cleaning game has forever been changed.  All you do is rub your brush on the wipe and watch as the pigment goes onto the wipe right away.  The wipes are a tad expensive at $.90 per wipe, but I think they’re definitely worth it.

4.  @5hensandacockatiel Instagram feed.  My favorite toys when I was little and even now are American Girl dolls.  I always wanted the newest accessories and outfits for my plethora of dolls.  I also have been a big fan of Carly who writes Carly the Prepster.  So when I saw this feed’s rendition of Carly as an American Girl doll, I had to follow.  Sydney, the girl behind this Instagram, does a great job of styling her dolls to fit the current fashion trends and even the historical outfits of some of the American Girl historical dolls.  Definitely check out her Insta if you love fashion and American Girl dolls!

5.  Athleta Cloudlight Asymmetric Top.  Athleisure is definitely one of my favorite places to get clothes, and Athleta did not disappoint with their fall collection.  I found this top, and it’s my new favorite top.  It’s made from a super lightweight and soft material that’s great for fall days.  The longer length makes it perfect to cover your butt when wearing leggings, and the color options are in all of the best fall colors.  I personally got an XS petite because it runs a tad big and long.

What amazing finds did you make this past month?  Let me know so I can check them out!

  1. I really liked A Simple Favor, and while I normally read a book before seeing the movie, this time the movie inspired me to pick up the book. I don't usually like thrillers but I think this one might be the exception! This month I have been obsessed with my new beats by dre wireless headphones (game changer) and I am currently reading the book "The Deeper the Water the Uglier the Fish".
